even the gods in their jealous skies loved
the sheer brilliance and beauty of her;
all stone and marble carved most artfully
architecturally unbeatable:
honorary eighth wonder of the world
her people, however, were less genius;
their loose morals and erratic nature
kindled tempestuous rage in the gods
whose pride divided them– all claiming her
until Poseidon leapt forth from his throne
and engulfed the city in sea water;
her people drowned in the turbulent waves
her walls eternally preserved in salt
lost to the world: subsea metropolis
